OH HAPPY DAY!

Yay! Today is my first day of holidays. I can't remember when my last holidays were so I'm a little excited. We are heading down to Adelaide to spend a week down the beach with my family (double yay). I don't have to be back at work until the 8th of January.

Another reason to be excited .... it is raining ... and heavily too. I can't seem to remember the last time it rained like this (doesn't seem like my memory is very good these days, lol). I suppose you get used to dry, when you live through a drought in what feels like the driest town, in the driest state, on the driest continent.
Well it's been a while since I've written, but I haven't been up to much. The Primary Presentation kept me busy. So has work. Andre and I have both been sick, but are both much better now. Just same ol' really

The Zombie, Her Vampire, Her Werewolf & Her Human

If you are wondering who the zombie is, well yes it's me!

I didn't want to read the Twilight series.... I put it off .... "I don't want to read about vampires" I told myself. Well, it got to the stage that I couldn't find anything good to read and I remembered how much Caitlin loved them. So I finally gave in not really expecting to enjoy them very much.

I've been a zombie ever since, most nights reading 300+ pages after work. Staying up way waaayyyyy too late. I think the books really took me back to being a 17 year old again. 17 was the age that i fell in love with Andre. I have just finished reading the last book (Breaking Dawn) this afternoon (probably my least favourite of the 4, but I still enjoyed it). I am now very glad to annouce to Andre my dear human husband that you have me back. Hopefully now I will be able to turn back from a zombie into a normal human. I'm off to do the housework ....

Summer's in the air

I can feel it in the air ..... summer is nearly here, and I can't wait. My favourite season is definately Spring. But I think the reason I can't wait for summer is that I am looking forward to a break from work and spending time with family.

I live a five minute walk from the beach, and with the warmer weather coming in it means I'll get to enjoy it more.

Our walk along the beach tonight (this photo is for you Jess (and Murphy) - Uzi says hi).

Australia

As I said in one of my recent posts. I love Australia and I want to travel more. Andre was brought in up in Schiedam Netherlands and Adelaide and I too was brought up around the city. But as we have moved around we have always been drawn to the country, and here we are in Whyalla enjoying the country once again. Whenever we get the chance we try to duck out for the day to do some exploring (we are grateful that Andre has a work 4WD and a petrol card - or we probably wouldn't be able to afford the petrol).
A few weeks ago we went to the Gawler Ranges, a few hours away. Just gorgeous! New scenery around every corner and we saw so many native animals (roos, wallabies, birds, emus etc etc)
Wallabies (saw over 100 Wallabies and Kangaroos in just a few hours)

Rock formations
Emu's are really fast! They were up close when we grabbed for the camera, but by the time we had it set up ..... well, the photo speaks for itself ......
Andre gets to do a bit of travelling for work, which is great cos I can get him to scope out great places, take photos to show me, and we can plan our next adventure. This is where we'd like to go next, the western Eyre Peninsula coastline.......

I know they look like rocks, but a lot of them are seals.....

Can you spot the dolphin playing? There were lots of them that day......
The country certainly has it's downsides ... shopping isn't good and lots of people know your business...... But it certainly has it's advantages too!

My Big Hairy Baby

I want dinner ......

What a poser ......

A bit of R&R .......

Let's play!!!

I'm Back .... for now

Yes I am still alive. I've been around ... just not blogging.....

Some of my excuses:
- I'm too busy
- My camera doesn't work properly
- I can't think of anything interesting to write
- Lazziness
- I spend way too much time on facebook..... etc

But anyway, I'm not going to replay in full the last 3 months of my life, but here are some highlights.
- My new job (not so brand new anymore) is going really well. I have learned so much and have a lot of autonomy which is great. I get to travel back to Adelaide regularly for work, which means I get to see family regularly ... yay! I almost took an additional job lecturing at the Uni, but was able to negotiate my ideal hours in my current job, so that is plenty for now.
- I have been called as the Primary President in our Ward in Whyalla, and Andre was just called on Sunday to the Bishopric. We are enjoying Church here and can see that our lives will continue to be more busy but also blessed.
- We celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on the 26th of June. We went out for a lovely dinner overlooking the ocean and ate a very delicious (also very expensive) seafood platter for 2. Yum!
- I got to meet my newest nephew Dane last weekend. I could've just eaten him up, he is such a wonderful, happy baby.

I don't have a photo of Dane (because my camera isn't working properly), but this is a cross stitch I made for him.

- Andre and I have really enjoying exploring some of the surrounding regions (we have a few photos which I will blog about another day). Sometimes when we are travelling back from Adelaide and see the sign to Alice Springs I just feel like I want to keep on driving. Or when I arrive back in Whyalla and see the sign to Perth I feel like phoning up work and telling them that I'll see them in a few weeks. I would love to do overseas travel, but there is so much of this beautiful land that I have yet to see .... I can't wait.

The Job Situation

Just to fill you in ... I decided to take the Infection Control Nurse position and I start work tomorrow. I think it will be a great opportunity for me, but a lot of hard work also, so we'll see how it goes......
